First visit
What to expect.
One appointment, one complete loop: a measured baseline, a targeted intervention, and an immediate retest — so you leave knowing whether this approach can help you.
How the visit runs
Five steps, start to finish
- 01
Arrive as you are
No need to stretch, warm up, or medicate the problem away beforehand. The baseline works best when it measures how you actually move on an ordinary day.
- 02
Wear clothing you can move in
Testing involves walking, reaching, rotating, and getting up and down. Anything you'd comfortably train or stretch in works. Please arrive fragrance-free.
- 03
Talk first, then test
History and goals come first — what happened, what you've tried, and what you want back. Then the baseline: the ranges and relationships your problem actually uses, measured.
- 04
The smallest useful input
One or more interventions chosen for the pattern the baseline revealed — manual therapy, neuromuscular work, breathing, mobility, or loading. Precision over pressure.
- 05
Retest and plan
The original tests, repeated immediately. You see the before-and-after in the same visit, and the next step — another session, a home strategy, a structured plan, or a referral — is decided from that evidence.
How to prepare
What to bring
The shoes you live in
The pair you actually walk, work, and train in most. Footwear is part of the assessment — wear pattern included.
A list of what you've tried
Prior treatments, imaging, or diagnoses if you have them. Useful context, but a perfect diagnosis is not required to start.
Your questions
Every finding gets explained in plain language. If something isn't clear, ask — understanding the why is part of the work.
After the visit
You leave with your numbers.
Whatever changed — and whatever didn't — you'll know, because the same tests run before and after. Most first visits end with a small home strategy: a few precise drills selected from what your retests support, not a generic sheet.

Common questions
Before you book
More questions are answered on the home page FAQ — or just ask directly.
Is this massage?
It may include hands-on manual therapy, but it is not a relaxation massage or a routine full-body sequence. The session is organized around assessment, a specific goal, and an objective retest.
Do I need a diagnosis or referral?
No. You can begin with a movement problem, a recurring symptom, or a performance limitation. Holistic Muscle Therapy does not diagnose medical conditions and will recommend appropriate medical evaluation or referral when indicated.
What should I wear and bring?
Wear clothing that lets you move comfortably. Bring the shoes you walk, work, or train in most often, plus relevant imaging or provider notes when useful. Please arrive fragrance-free.
Why should I avoid warming up before the visit?
The clearest baseline is how you present in normal life. Stretching, training, or aggressively self-treating right before the session can temporarily change the very pattern we are trying to understand.
